Torah Portions
Each week, a special part of the Torah is read, which is called a Torah portion or parsha. The Torah is made up of the first five books of the Bible. The readings are divided into 54 parts, so that over the course of one year, the whole Torah is read. These readings happen in synagogues every Shabbat. This way, people all around the world are learning and reading the same part of the Torah at the same time!
