Is the Rapture Imminent? A Biblical Examination of the Doctrine of Imminency
Many teach that the Rapture could happen at any moment. But does Scripture truly support this view?

In today’s study from the End Times Truth series, Dr. Baruch Korman examines one of the most widely accepted — yet often misunderstood — doctrines in modern eschatology: the doctrine of imminency.

This teaching claims that the Rapture could happen at any moment, without any preceding prophetic events. But does the Word of G-d truly support this?

Through a detailed study of key Scriptures, Dr. Baruch invites us to compare tradition with truth, and to discern what the Bible really says about the timing of the Rapture.

What the Doctrine of Imminency Teaches

The doctrine of imminency teaches:

“The Rapture could occur at any moment; no prophecy must be fulfilled before it.”

While many respected Bible teachers hold this view, Dr. Baruch cautions that belief must be based on Scripture, not tradition or denominational loyalty.

“Many teach what they’ve heard, not what they’ve studied.”

Our goal: to examine each verse commonly cited in support of imminency and determine if it truly says what people claim.

Key Verses Commonly Cited — and What They Really Mean

Matthew 24:44

“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Truth: We must always be ready.
Misconception: This verse does not say the Rapture can happen at any moment; it only says it will happen at a time we do not expect.

Not knowing the day or hour doesn’t mean there are no signs or no prophetic order.

1 Corinthians 1:7

“You do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lo-d Jesus Christ to be revealed.”

We should live with expectation.
Expectation ? Imminence.
Paul affirms our hope, not the timing.

Philippians 3:20–21

“Our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior.”

This verse calls us to wait for Messiah — not to assume He could come at any instant. Paul’s hope was sincere, but his hope is not a prophecy.

1 Thessalonians 1:10

“Wait for His Son from heaven… who delivers us from the wrath to come.”

Dr. Baruch affirms a pre-wrath Rapture — Messiah will remove the Church before G-d’s wrath begins, but after other key prophetic signs.

The Antichrist’s 42 months of power (Revelation 13:5) precede the outpouring of divine wrath.

2 Thessalonians 2:3

“That Day will not come unless the falling away comes first.”

This apostasy (departure from truth) must occur before the Rapture.
It’s not the Rapture itself — it’s rebellion and heresy within the visible Church.

Today, as churches embrace compromise and error, we see this prophecy unfolding.

Signs That Must Precede the Rapture

According to Scripture, before the Rapture occurs, several key events must take place:

  1. The Gospel of the Kingdom preached to all nations (Matthew 24:14).
  2. The Apostasy — a great falling away from truth (2 Thessalonians 2:3).
  3. The Revealing of the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:4).
  4. The Abomination of Desolation in the Temple (Matthew 24:15).

These events align with Yeshua’s timeline — not a “rapture at any moment” view.

The Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13)

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great G-d and Savior Jesus Christ.”

This verse affirms the certainty of the Rapture, not its immediacy.
We should live ready, but biblically informed, recognizing that prophecy unfolds in order.

Coming Quickly — Not “Soon”

“Behold, I come quickly.” (Revelation 16:15)

The Greek word tachu means “quickly, suddenly,” not “soon.”
When the appointed time arrives, these events will unfold rapidly — leaving no time to prepare.

Therefore:

Be ready now. Walk in faith, repentance, and obedience.

Conclusion: Watch, Don’t Wander

The Rapture is a promised event — not a surprise without signs.
Believers are called to watch, discern, and stand firm amid deception and apostasy.

“We are sons of light, not darkness. That Day should not overtake us as a thief.” (1 Thessalonians 5:4–5)

The true call is not to speculate, but to be faithful — anchored in Scripture, not assumption.
