The Jerusalem Council A Biblical Understanding Many
In today’s reflection, we examine the true purpose of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15. Contrary to common misconceptions, the Council did not abolish the Law of Moses for Gentile believers but addressed the false teaching that Gentiles must convert to Judaism through circumcision to be saved. The apostles affirmed that salvation comes by grace through faith in Yeshua alone. While believers are not justified by the Law, they are called to reject idolatry and pursue holiness. The Council’s decision emphasized unity in the body of Messiah and the importance of learning G-d’s standards through the Scriptures, including the Law of Moses.
